PAST EVENTS India-Czech Technology Partnership for MSMEs On the occasion of National Technology Day 11-12 May 2010; India Habitat Center; New Delhi Background To propel ourselves out of the global economic meltdown and combat the specter the environmental disaster looming over our heads like a Damocles sword, the importance of research, technology & innovation can never be underscored. In this backdrop, In a partnership with the Czech Republic, MoST and MSME, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is creating a platform to discuss and share models, best practices and R&D strategies, to encourage innovation-driven growth, commercial research and to convert knowledge to wealth. Last year, the financial crisis forced many to tighten their belts, leading to a dip in outlays for R&D. However, some leading innovative firms bucked the trend and actually increased their R&D spend and not surprisingly were less impacted by the crisis due to their technology competitiveness, new product development and greater efficiency. Governments across the globe are now trying to boost the economy and industrial growth through strategic policy changes by creating a more favourable R&D ecosystem. This is also required due to the urgent need to find solutions to the global climate change challenges. The Global Industrial R&D Conclave 2010 would be a forum for R&D Heads/ CTOs of leading innovative firms, researchers, government functionaries and SMEs from India to interact among themselves and with the high powered delegation from the Czech Republic. It would be a platform to share their experiences and strategies to boost the global economy, build alliances and be also a learning platform for relevant stakeholders to understand the value of technological competitiveness in the years to follow. R&D Ecosystem: Issues & Challenges The Global Industrial R&D Conclave will debate on issues and challenges of the R&D ecosystem, with specific reference to the post global economic crisis and climate change and work towards relevant collaboration in industrial R&D.
